
Tesla is working on a “private 5G” infrastructure that will connect to its electric cars and Optimus robot.
The automaker was early to include internet connectivity in all its vehicles. There were many reasons for this. This enabled over-the-air software updates and connectivity capabilities, and also allowed Tesla to collect large amounts of data.
Tesla started with 3G Connective and then updated to 4G LTE, but now we know the automaker is considering upgrading to 5G.
Pat Ruelke, lead staff engineer for IT Manufacturing Solutions Engineering at Tesla, revealed the move in a job listing shared on LinkedIn.
