Telecom Egypt announced that it has formed a strategic partnership with global technology leader Nokia to roll out 5G data services across Egypt. The partnership aims to transform Egypt’s communications landscape by introducing 5G mobile technology to major cities such as Giza, Luxor, Aswan and Alexandria.
Nokia will supply essential equipment to deliver these services, ensuring a superior experience for Telecom Egypt’s customers. The services, which offer faster speeds, increased capacity and improved data quality, are due to be launched later this year.
Under the agreement, Nokia will deploy advanced 5G network access equipment, including baseband units and the latest radio antenna devices. The deployment will provide extensive 5G coverage and capacity while leveraging energy-efficient solutions and facilitating station device installation. In addition, Nokia will also provide technical support services, including installation, integration and network optimization.
The introduction of 5G technology will bring a range of benefits, including seamless connectivity in densely populated areas. It will also support a wide range of applications for business and enterprise customers, resulting in faster downloads, smoother content delivery, live streaming services, and improved overall network performance. These advancements will drive innovation and efficiency across various economic sectors, helping customers keep up with the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
Earlier this year, Telecom Egypt was awarded a 15-year license to provide 5G mobile services in Egypt.
