Back in 2021, T-Mobile began offering fiber home internet in select markets. This time, T-Mobile newly plans to roll out fiber home internet in two states. Last year, T-Mobile expanded its service to Minnesota and Flordia by partnering with a third-party internet company to provide service to those states.
Now, if reports are correct, T-Mobile’s fiber-optic home internet could be available in 13 other cities thanks to a $1 billion deal with Lumos. This will expand T-Mobile’s fiber-optic operations to approximately 250,000 homes and businesses in North Carolina, Virginia and South Carolina.
Although the deal is not yet official, T-Mobile will reportedly invest in Lumon to use its network to sell T-Mobile home internet over fiber. This is very similar to how T-Mobile expanded its fiber network into Flordia and Minnesota last year.
T-Mobile Fiber Home Internet prices start at $55 per month for 500 Mbps, and speeds go up to 2 Gbps plans for just $100 per month. T-Mobile says its home internet service comes with no data caps, no contracts, cancel anytime and 24/7 support.
When you sign up for T-Mobile’s fiber internet service, you’ll also receive a free Wi-Fi 6 router.
This service is currently available only in New York, NY. Pueblo and Northglenn, Colorado; Kenosha, Wisconsin. Bloomington and St. Cloud, Minnesota. Pinellas County, Florida. If you live in one of these markets, T-Mobile offers next-day installation for many people.
If you’re lucky enough to live in one of these areas, you now have one more home internet option.
T-Mobile has reportedly been looking for a partner to build its fiber network for some time. For now, this appears to be just the beginning of T-Mobile’s home internet plans.
