T-Mobile US has launched 5G fixed wireless access (FWA) home internet service in some areas of Puerto Rico, aiming to replicate the success of its service in the United States.
The operator explained that the service is available to customers with eligible addresses and eligible voice lines. The service is currently available in regions where there is “network capacity to deliver a great experience for all customers,” the company said.
T-Mobile said Puerto Rico’s network capacity is “constantly increasing and 5G home internet service will continue to expand to more people.”
This service is available for $50 per month using autopay. T-Mobile says there are no additional taxes on eligible accounts, monthly fees, or equipment costs.
Customers can pick up the gateway from a retailer, download the app, and install it in about 15 minutes.
As an added incentive, T-Mobile lets customers test the service for free for 15 days and pays up to $750 to cover early termination fees from other internet service providers.
Jorge Martel, vice president and general of T-Mobile Puerto Rico, said the company will also give subscribers a $100 T-Mobile gift card after signing up.
For the past two years, the company has added approximately 500,000 FWA subscribers each quarter. In the most recent quarter, the company added 541,000 customers, bringing its total number of customers to 4.8 million.
T-Mobile US CEO Mike Siebert said in a fourth-quarter earnings call that the company is on track to reach its goal of 7 million to 8 million subscribers by 2025. .
