5G home internet has reached a significant milestone, now available in 40% of homes in upstate New York, totaling more than 1.6 million households. This advancement allows residents to choose high-speed internet that is not only fast but hassle-free, without annual contracts or hidden fees.
The telecommunications giant also revealed it has opened a new customer experience center in Henrietta. Additionally, new retail stores are opening throughout upstate New York in 2023, including Bath, Camillus, Cobleskill, Geneseo, Jamestown, Johnstown, New Paltz, Oneida, Ontario, Rochester, Springville, and Vestal. Beyond growing our business, T-Mobile is positively impacting communities in upstate New York. His Hometown Grants initiative at the company provides funding to 100 small towns each year to support projects related to urban beautification and public improvements. Since the program began in 2021, five New York towns (Akwesasne, Otisville, Potsdam, Town of Poughkeepsie, and Village of Arcade) have received grants totaling nearly $225,000.
T-Mobile’s Project 10Million initiative supports $10.7 billion in investments and aims to bridge the digital divide. This program provides free internet connectivity and mobile hotspots to up to 10 million eligible student households nationwide. In New York alone, T-Mobile connects more than 690,000 students in 215 school districts.
Additionally, the company is expanding its support to school districts by offering free and subsidized data plans, along with access to affordable laptops and tablets. T-Mobile’s active involvement is making a significant contribution to closing the digital divide in education across the state.
