Theo Hernandez has been in the spotlight after AC Milan’s 2-1 loss to Parma, but not in a good way. The two goals conceded showed the Frenchman lacking the desire to help his team, and new data has made that very clear.
Parma took the lead within two minutes of the start, when Dennis Mann was left completely unmarked on the left wing. Theo Hernandez’s defense was poor. He chased the winger a long way but couldn’t stop him.
Things weren’t much better for the second goal, with new signing Strahinja Pavlovic finding himself in a difficult position as the left-back jogged back, after goal-scorer Matteo Cancellieri, as Sky Italia (via Espertheo) reported, ran 9km/h faster (30) than Hernandez’s 21km/h.
Meanwhile, for the first goal, Mann’s speed was 26kph while Hernandez was stopped at 17kph - also 9kph slower. There’s no doubt that the difference was significant and it calls into question the work-rate of the Frenchman, one of the fastest players in Serie A.
In fact, such performances were enough to see him on the bench and it remains to be seen what decision manager Paulo Fonseca will make next weekend.
According to Sky SportsYesterday, Theo Hernandez made significantly slower runs than Dennis Mann and Matteo Cancellieri for the first and second goals respectively.
