Many of the towers will need to be renovated, with three towers approved last November and city council agreeing on Monday evening where three new towers will be built.
The City Council voted Monday night to support in principle the Sasktel office’s second tower at 1200-6 Miller Hill Park near the drainage ditch.th Third Avenue at Avenue East and Kinsmen Park.
Now that it has been approved by the city council, SaskTel will need to give the public time to weigh in and secure space, either by purchasing, leasing or licensing land.
There is still work to be done before the city has full 5G coverage, which will take at least a year if all goes well.
“Today’s announcement is a good first step. We are well on our way to improving service in the city,” Jacobs said.
“There is still much work to be done before we can achieve full 5G coverage in the city.”
5G technology allows data to move faster and more devices to connect.
“You’ll be able to stream data, stream movies, and share large files faster than ever before,” Jacobs explained.
We will continue to see further advances as networks evolve along with device applications.
“One of the key benefits of a fully mature 5G network is real-time connectivity,” he said.
In other words, the quality of your connection will be very close to a fiber internet connection, and buffering will be significantly reduced.
This is useful not only for watching movies and video chatting, but also for fields such as remote surgery and self-driving cars.
In addition to faster speeds and the elimination of buffering, 5G allows you to connect more devices. In today’s smart homes, everything from garage doors to thermostats and kitchen appliances is connected to the web.
Full coverage should resolve current problem areas such as dead spots and crescent acres.
