SaskTel recently announced it has reached another major milestone in the rollout of its advanced 5G wireless network. Since first launching its 5G network in parts of Regina in late 2021, SaskTel has successfully upgraded half of its wireless network in the province to 5G technology. SaskTel’s 5G network now consists of more than 520 cell sites, covering approximately 85 per cent of Saskatchewan residents.
Offering ultrafast data speeds reaching up to 1.2 gigabits per second (Gbps), SaskTel’s 5G network will continue to evolve to meet the growing needs of customers, and as the network matures, it will support technological advancements in telehealth, education, agriculture, resource management and many other industries and sectors that are critical to economic prosperity and standards of living across Saskatchewan.
The continued expansion of the 5G and fibre optic network is a direct result of SaskTel’s commitment to invest approximately $440 million in capital across Saskatchewan in 2024/25 and more than $2 billion over the next five years. These investments will ensure Saskatchewan remains one of the most connected provinces in the country.
