
Safaricom announced on Monday that its 5G network is now available in all 47 counties in Kenya, claiming to be the largest 5G operator in the country. The company reported that it has more than 1,000 5G sites, covering 102 towns and reaching 14% of the population.

Safaricom The company announced that it has deployed 1,114 5G locations nationwide since launching its services in October 2022. The company has more than 11,000 enterprise customers using 5G and more than 780,000 active 5G smartphones.

Safaricom became the first service provider to deploy 5G in Kenya in October 2022. The company said it has since continued to expand its 5G network and drive digitalisation of enterprise solutions across IoT, cybersecurity, cloud services and payments.

Safaricom aims to become Africa’s leading purpose-driven technology company by 2030, and the expansion of 5G is expected to unlock new opportunities in areas such as immersive experiences, gaming, smart warehousing and telemedicine, an official statement said.
