Saddleback Communications provides fiber internet distribution to SPRMIC
staff report | Digital Free Press
Saddleback Communications, a provider of fiber-based internet, voice and cloud communications services to the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community, recently added over 3,000 miles of new fiber to its core fiber-optic backbone. Addition completed.
The new fiber network is part of a larger fiber and communications network for SPRMIC and community business customers, according to a press release.
Fiber-optic internet delivers data through cables filled with thin glass or plastic fibers. Fiber networks carry more bandwidth than similarly sized copper cables and are nearly 20 times faster than regular cables, the release states.
“This expansion provides a strong network with significant fiber capacity for continued future growth within the community, ensuring Saddleback offers unparalleled service and coverage for both residential and business customers.” Saddleback Communications CEO Bill Bryant said. Prepared statement.
The additional fiber triples the size of Saddleback’s transport network and is part of the company’s preparations for a new core backbone technology (Arista) Saddleback plan to be introduced later this year.
