A Moscow court has sentenced a student to 10 days in prison for changing the name of a Wi-Fi network with pro-Kiev slogans during a military offensive in Ukraine, the Ryanovosti news agency reported on Saturday. It is said that it was lowered.
A student at Moscow State University replaced the network name on his Wi-Fi router with the rallying cry of the Ukrainian military, Slava Ukraine (“Glory to Ukraine”).
The court found him guilty of “public demonstration of Nazi symbols… or symbols of extremist organizations,” Rianovosti said.
It added that a police officer had reported the network name to authorities.
Since the Russian offensive began in February 2022, authorities have handed out thousands of prison terms and fines to people who publicly criticize the action or show support for the Ukrainian military.
