review – Lately, I’ve been having a lot of fun testing out different security systems using gadgets. While this is fun, the ultimate goal is to be able to record everything around your home 24/7. Now, don’t get me wrong. Statistically, I live in one of the safest parts of town, but it’s 2024 and things are getting weird everywhere. One security system is fine for most people, but there are many different needs, including places where only wireless cameras can be installed and places where wired POE cameras are best. I would also like to be able to view live footage and replay past events/alerts. The system I am testing is a combination of a Reolink DUO 3 PoE security camera and an Argus Track WiFi camera.

The Reolink 12 Channel Wi-Fi 6 NVR is a simple, slim metal box with a USB-A port and LED indicator light on the front. The remaining ports/connections are on the back. The back has a power port, a USB-A port for the mouse, an HDMI port, a VGA port, an audio port, a LAN port, and four Ethernet ports, as shown below. Above the ports are four antenna jacks.

setup The Argus Track 4K Solar Security Camera is very simple. Once fully charged, use the Reolink app to scan the camera’s QR code and add it to Wi-Fi. The process is simple and not difficult.
Setting up Reolink NVR and DUO 3 will take a little more time. After you connect the antenna and connect the NVR to your network, go through the setup process screen by screen. I first connected the DUO 3 to his NVR as shown below, but once the NVR setup process was complete, the camera disappeared. I don’t usually look at manuals, but in this case I had to quickly realize that although this NVR supports POE cameras, it doesn’t have a POE port. To connect the DUO 3 POE camera, I had to connect it to one of the POE network switches. Another option is to connect it to a regular network switch and use the AC adapter that isn’t included. Once connected to the POE network switch, the NVR now recognizes it on the network and can connect using its IP.

Reolink 12 Channel Wi-Fi 6 NVR, DUO 3 16MP UHD Dual Lens PoE Security Camera, Argus Track WiFi Camera all perform well. I like the NVR, including its recording capabilities. Both cameras display beautiful, clear real-world distance and close-up perspective. I think the POE camera should come with an AC adapter since the NVR doesn’t have a built-in POE port. Other than that, I’m satisfied with each component and functionality. I’m having a strange problem with my APP. I had an old Reolink camera that I got rid of, and I need to delete it from the app, but it won’t get deleted no matter how many times I use Delete Selection. I also noticed that the Argus Track pan/tilt camera would not pan upwards once it was completely level. Cover the entire range with left, right, and downward movements.

Reolink 12 Channel Wi-Fi 6 NVR, DUO 3 16MP UHD Dual Lens PoE Security Camera, Argus Track WiFi Camera all work fine. Each component is well-built, performs well, and provides great options for monitoring and recording 24-hour security video.
