Realme has been on a roll this year with smartphone launches. The company started the year with the launch of Realme 12 Pro 5G series. We reviewed both the Realme 12 Pro (Review) and Realme 12 Pro+ (Review) and found both smartphones to be excellent contenders in their segment. Realme paid special attention to the beauty of the phone this time. The company has also set a very good benchmark for what you can expect from a smartphone. For a sub-Rs 25,000 smartphone, Realme 12 Pro turns out to be perfect for daily use and definitely ranks among the top recommended devices in this price range. However, the launch of the 12 Pro 5G series was followed by the launch of the Realme 12 series, which is basically a dialed-down version of the Realme 12 Pro series. Well, a few weeks ago, Realme also debuted a new phone in its Narzo series, the Narzo 70 Pro 5G, a sub-Rs 20,000 smartphone.
We’ve been testing the phone for a few days. It’s a good phone. It is loaded with innovative features like Air Gestures, is powered by his Dimensity 7050 SoC, a first in this price range, and comes with 67W fast charging. This is the fastest charging support in a smartphone priced below Rs. 20,000.
Realme Narzo 70 Pro 5G incorporates many of these “segment-first” claims. And for the most part, smartphones deliver on that promise. I think the Air Gesture feature, which is one of the highlights of the phone, is still a little half-baked, but overall the Narzo 70 Pro 5G lives up to most of its claims, with one exception. Realme extensively promoted the low-light photography of the phone. In most settings, the phone’s camera does a decent job, but all the low-light indoor shots we took were too hot for anyone’s taste. However, let’s tackle every aspect of Narzo 70 Pro 5G one by one.
Works as a great everyday driver
In terms of performance, the Realme Narzo 70 Pro 5G is actually pretty good for a smartphone in its price range. With mild to moderate cooling, the phone’s performance was stable and the device never heated up too much. I was using multiple work and social media apps on the phone along with some gaming apps for testing, and while testing the phone, multitasking and social media doomscrolling were interrupted by lag. It was never done.
The Narzo 70 Pro 5G’s display is also very responsive. It’s a bright and wonderful color. If you watch a lot of shows and movies on your phone, you’ll love the Narzo 70 Pro 5G. Even if you are on the go a lot and often use your phone in direct sunlight, the brightness adaptability of the Narzo 70 Pro 5G is very good and you won’t have any trouble reading the text on your device. . For gamers, Narzo 70 Pro 5G’s 120Hz refresh rate delivers low latency and provides a great gaming experience.
Narzo 70 pro 5G runs Realme UI 5.0 based on Android 14. When I switched on the phone for the first time, I was pleasantly surprised to find that Realme takes all user feedback seriously and is carefully addressing the bloatware issue. Realme phones are notorious for preloaded bloatware apps. Mobile phones often come pre-installed with many gaming, financial, and e-commerce apps. This was also an issue with his Realme 12 Pro + 5G, the company’s flagship product. You can uninstall these apps, but it takes effort. On the other hand, with the Narzo 70 Pro 5G, the company was able to minimize bloatware. The home screen only has a couple of folders with apps and doesn’t include all the popular games and popular apps. I think that’s a huge benefit for the phone.
What’s also impressive about the Narzo 70 Pro 5G is that it supports 67W fast charging at this price range. The phone has a 5,000 mAh battery. During our testing period, the smartphone’s battery comfortably lasted just over a day. And thanks to fast charging support, the battery life actually feels longer. Even if the phone is connected to the charger for 10-15 minutes, the battery remains around 40-50%, which can easily get him through the day. work or university.
With the cherry on top, the phone looks great. It has a flat display, flat edges, and a round camera module on the back. When it comes to aesthetics, I think Realme has really struck a chord with each of their phones this year.
Air gestures need more work
Narzo 70 Pro 5G has a feature called Air Gestures. This is also one of the highlights of the smartphone. The reason this feature is getting so much attention is because features like air gestures were limited to premium smartphones like his Oppo Find X5 and Samsung Galaxy S4. The idea is that you can control your smartphone through hand movements without physically touching the device. For example, you can take a screenshot, open an app, answer a call, click a photo, and more with just hand gestures.
While testing the phone, I found this feature to be especially helpful when my hands are dirty or wet. I usually keep my phone on a stand next to my laptop on my workstation, and I’ve found that air gestures are really helpful for paying attention to some notifications without actually getting distracted. got it. Air gestures are also useful for people with certain disabilities.
But here’s the important part. This feature is really cool, and it’s great to see it on a more affordable smartphone. But I think it’s still a little half-baked. Air gestures are still not as responsive as I would like. It’s also not very accurate. Sometimes I would get so irritated by not answering that I would just give up and pick up the phone. I had a hard time activating the Air His gesture from the lock screen, as the wrong gesture would sometimes be registered. It’s even worse when you’re in a hurry. The phone registers the gesture accurately, but the processing takes him 30 minutes. Also. you are annoyed. Just pick up your phone and use it the traditional way.
Having said that, I think these issues with air gestures can be easily fixed by Realme through an OTA update. Also, a few simple fixes can significantly improve your experience with this feature.
Big promise in low-light photography
The main highlight of Narzo 70 Pro 5G is low-light shooting. This phone is also one of the first in this price range to feature a 50-megapixel Sony IMX890 primary sensor. When I tested the phone, I got decent image results most of the time. Especially when shooting outdoors in the dark. A lot of color is added to the images on mobile phones, but on social media, the shots look great.
However, we found that the phone performed poorly when testing low-light shooting indoors. This is the warmest image I’ve seen in a while. It’s very orange.
At first I thought this was happening due to the diffuse yellow light in the room, but when I clicked on this image of my colleague, she looked more orange than Donald Trump’s face. And this was clicked in a bright, bright room with lots of sunlight.
That being said, I noticed that clicking in photo mode causes this problem to occur even more. For similar settings, images in portrait mode somehow look better.
Selfies are pretty decent, but so are bright outdoor shots.
Overall, this phone does a good job, but only because it’s not good at taking indoor low-light photos – especially when the camera is becoming such an important part of the user experience – at least not actively I do not recommend this phone to anyone who takes photos on a smartphone.
Realme Narzo 70 Pro 5G is good, but it could be even better
As we said at the beginning of this article, the Narzo 70 Pro 5G is a great phone. It’s a decent all-rounder and delivers on most of the promises Realme made at the phone’s launch. It has a great display, perfect for gaming, a design that makes the phone stand out, an uncluttered UI, a good-sized battery, and the fastest charging support in this price range. The Narzo 70 Pro 5G also has Air Gestures, which is a nice accessibility feature, although it could use some improvement.
Next is your cell phone camera. In most cases, your phone’s camera is fine. However, it struggles to live up to its biggest claim of outstanding low-light photography at this price point. This phone produces very warm images under certain lighting conditions, which overshadows many of the other features the phone is good at.
