Korea Radio Adoption Association (RAPA) and Anritsu Corporation (Japan) signed a memorandum of understanding stipulating mutual cooperation in Beyond 5G (B5G) and 6th generation mobile communication systems on February 22, 2024 at Anritsu headquarters. (MoU) was signed. 6G is the next generation communication standard.
Through this agreement, RAPA and Anritsu will also collaborate on candidate frequency bands for B5G/6G, specifically FR3 (7GHz to 24GHz), sub-THz bands (over 100GHz), and technical cooperation from the proof of concept (PoC) stage. going.
Starting this year, RAPA plans to establish the “Anritsu B5G/6G Test Lab” within the Songdo IoT Technical Support Center in Incheon City, build test infrastructure, and upgrade installed equipment in stages. Through this initiative, we will utilize Anritsu’s 5G test equipment “MT8000A,” which has been expanded to 6G, to create an environment in South Korea that will enable efficient verification of 6G mobile communications technology.
In addition, users of the Anritsu B5G/6G Test Lab, such as B5G/6G antenna manufacturers and module manufacturers, can perform concept verification from the basic technology development stage in the B5G/6G field. With the recent launch of a 6G technology development project in South Korea, it will also be possible to verify the results of related government R&D projects.
RAPA Vice President Son Jong-soo said, “This agreement is an opportunity for RAPA and Anritsu to strengthen their leadership in the B5G/6G field.” By providing a verification environment and conducting development verification in the B5G/6G field based on RAPA’s verification infrastructure, we hope to be at the forefront of revitalizing the domestic 6G industry and advancing Korean mobile communication technology. I look forward to it. ”
