AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) – RANGE has launched a study to identify locations for broadband internet in the Texas Panhandle region.
The $110 million initiative is aimed at expanding internet access throughout the Panhandle region, according to a news release.
RANGE is currently working on developing maps to identify fiber optic routes and future access point locations. As part of this effort, RANGE is seeking input from local business owners, landowners, farmers and others.
Participants can complete a short survey that takes less than five minutes to identify areas where expanded internet access is most needed.
The survey results will be used to identify gaps in existing internet service, evaluate speed trends and identify new locations for fiber optics and access points.
By providing up-to-date data about their internet usage and needs, residents contribute to stronger internet connections, which in turn boosts economic development for local businesses, farms and ranches.
“The internet is becoming increasingly important to all aspects of life, and ensuring high-speed internet is available in every corner of the Panhandle is vital,” said Dr. Matt Garner, executive director of The RANGE. “It’s critical that agricultural producers and communities have the bandwidth they need to meet growing demand and continue to provide the fuel, fiber and food that so many people rely on.”
