Sony has released a new software update for its surprisingly popular Remote Play device. PS PortalThe handheld accessory, which is only meant to be used by connecting to the PS5 via WiFi, has been updated to version 3.0.1. So how does this latest patch affect Portal?
This is a fairly minor update, with the main addition being support for some 5GHz public WiFi networks, allowing users to enjoy faster connections when on the go, plus the usual mention of stability improvements.
Here are the official patch notes for Update 3.0.1:
- Improved system software performance and stability.
- PS Portal can now connect to a wider range of public networks, including certain 5GHz networks.
- To connect to a public network, make sure you have completed the initial setup of PS Portal.
So, while this isn’t the most thrilling update in the world, it is another step in the right direction for the device. Being able to connect to this faster WiFi band where it’s available means less lag when you want to use Portal on the go. That’s obviously a good thing for a device that requires a stable connection to function properly.
