After much anticipation, POCO has officially announced the launch of its first tablet, the POCO Pad 5G, in India. Set to debut at 12pm on August 23, the exciting news was confirmed by Himanshu Tandon, Country Head, POCO India, who enthusiastically described the upcoming tablet as the “ultimate companion” and highlighted its versatility.

According to Himanshu, the POCO Pad 5G will be the perfect device for a variety of tasks, whether that be binge-watching your favorite shows, getting creative, or simply enhancing your daily productivity. Promotional images suggest that the tablet will support both a stylus and keyboard, suggesting it’s designed to enhance both entertainment and work-related activities.
The POCO Pad made its global debut in May. It features a 12.1-inch 2.5K display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it’s powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC, which, combined with up to 8GB of RAM, delivers robust performance. The tablet also comes with four speakers for immersive audio and a large 10,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging support.

Interestingly, the POCO Pad shares many similarities with the Redmi Pad Pro that hit the Indian market just a few weeks ago. However, the POCO Pad is expected to be more affordable compared to the Redmi Pad Pro. As of now, it is unclear whether POCO will introduce both Wi-Fi and 5G models in India as the teaser images only highlight the POCO Pad 5G. We will have to wait for more details to know how the lineup will be rolled out.
