WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — Williamson County officials are warning of a “data security incident” impacting the 277th District Court in November 2022.
In a press release Thursday, officials said the county became aware of “suspicious activity in the email environment” on Nov. 10, 2022.
The investigation revealed that between November 1 and November 10, an unauthorized attacker gained access to the email accounts of 277th District Court employees and “viewed or obtained certain information contained therein.” It turned out that it may have been possible.
The county will use email accounts to identify individuals whose personal information may have been accessed, including names, addresses, dates of birth, driver’s license or state ID information, student IDs, social security numbers, and passports. announced that they had comprehensively investigated the information. numbers.
Other information that may have been accessed includes financial account and payment card information, biometric data, birth and marriage certificates, medical and health insurance information, and the mother’s maiden name.

“As a precautionary measure, the County is encouraging potentially affected individuals to check their account statements and credit reports for unusual activity and detect errors to prevent identity theft. “We encourage people to remain vigilant against these incidents,” it said in a statement. “Any suspicious activity should be promptly reported to your bank, financial institution, or other appropriate institution.”
