Oppo released the rugged IP69K-rated and MIL-STD-810H-compliant F27 Pro+ in June this year for ₹28,000 for the base 8/128GB model. Now, the company has released the cheaper and less rugged Oppo F27 5G, which is priced at ₹23,000 for the 8/128GB model.

The Oppo F27 5G is IP64-rated, meaning it’s dust-resistant but only basically waterproof (not submersible or splash-proof like the Pro+). Its 6.67-inch OLED display (FHD+, 120Hz) can be operated with wet fingers and boasts an outdoor-viewable peak brightness of 2,100 nits. It’s also notable that it’s a flat panel, unlike the curved Pro+ display.

The F27 has an “armour body” that includes a high-strength alloy frame and tempered glass (though no branding was mentioned). The phone weighs 187g and is 7.69mm or 7.76mm thick, depending on the colour you choose (emerald green and amber orange, respectively).

While the F27 isn’t a camera-focused phone, it does have an interesting feature – a ring light that surrounds the circular camera island. It has a 50MP camera, a 2MP depth sensor, and the usual LED flash. The selfie camera is recessed into the display via a punch hole and has a 32MP sensor.

Oppo hasn’t revealed the name of the chipset, but the report points to the Dimensity 6300. This is an entry-level 5G chipset, paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage, and will run Android 14 with ColorOS out of the box.
One interesting connectivity feature is BeaconLink, which the Reno12 series also has. Simply put, it uses Bluetooth to create a local voice connection, like a walkie-talkie, with a range of about 200 meters (650 feet).
Either way, the F27 comes with AI Studio, which lets you “reimagine” your portrait photos in a variety of styles, from realistic to cartoonish. Additionally, AI Eraser 2.0 can remove people who walk into the frame, while the AI Smart Image Matting 2.0 feature can quickly and accurately cut people or pets out of photos to create stickers for use on social media. Other AI features include AI Recording Summary (which transcribes and summarizes voice recordings) and AI Toolkit, which includes a webpage summary feature, Writer to help you enrich your message, and AI Speak, a high-quality text-to-speech system.

Last but not least, the 5,000mAh battery is said to retain over 80% of its original capacity even after four years of daily charging. It supports 45W SuperVOOC charging, allowing you to charge to 100% in 71 minutes. If you’re in a hurry, a 10-minute charge will give you five hours of video playback.

The Oppo F27 5G is already on sale in India at the Oppo online store, with the 8/128GB model priced at ₹23,000 ($275/€250). The 8/256GB model is also available for ₹25,000.
