The National Institute of Telecommunications Research, Innovation and Training (NTIPRIT) under the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Ghaziabad recently held a 2nd round of research on ‘5G Use Case Lab: Awareness and Pre-Commissioning Preparation’ at Gandhinagar Institute of Technology. A one-day workshop was held. This important event was inaugurated by Ms. Mona Khandal, Principal Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, Gujarat. More than 100 participants from 18 institutions in the Western region actively participated in the workshop.
Accelerating 5G innovation
The workshop aims to foster innovation in use cases for 5G technology, with special focus on setting up 100 5G use case labs across India with funding from the Ministry of Defense. Masu. Along with IIT Gandhinagar, these laboratories will be set up in 18 institutions in the western region. Led by the Standards Research, Development and Innovation (SRI) division at DoT Headquarters, the policy, implementation and capacity building aspects related to these labs are being meticulously managed to ensure timely support by faculty, students and startups. In her speech, Mona Khandar emphasized the importance of developing use cases to optimally utilize 5G networks and called for the rapid deployment of 100 5G labs. He emphasized the need to strengthen collaboration among academic institutions for effective utilization of these laboratories and praised DoT’s proactive initiative in establishing them. Professor Amit Prashant, Director of Research and Development, IIT Gandhinagar, emphasized the need for innovation and praised the potential social impact of this initiative. Additionally, DoT Deputy Director General (SRI) Shri Robert Ravi and NTIPRIT Deputy Director Shri Atul Sinha also shared their insights with the participants.
Throughout the workshop, various potentials of 5G were presented by startups and industry representatives such as M/s RJIO, M/s Elena Geo Systems, M/s CEQU Labs, M/s QPiAI India Pvt Limited, M/s Finnara, etc. A typical use case was introduced. Technologies Pvt Limited spans sectors such as corporate, education, agriculture, health, and e-commerce. Discussions were held among IIT Gandhinagar faculty, western region engineering colleges, industry representatives, researchers, students and Transport Ministry officials.
