NEW DELHI: Finnish telecom equipment maker Nokia on Monday entered into a multi-year 5G patent cross-licensing agreement with Chinese smartphone maker Vivo, which will eliminate all pending patent litigation between the two companies in all jurisdictions. has ended.
Nokia said in a statement that under the agreement, Vivo will pay royalties to Nokia as well as compensation to cover the dispute period. Terms and conditions will be treated as confidential as agreed between the parties.
This is Nokia’s sixth major smartphone patent licensing deal in the past 13 months, following deals with Apple, Samsung, Oppo, Honor, and Huawei.

Nokia announced that it will begin recognizing net revenue from this agreement in the first quarter of 2024, including catch-up payments to cover any outstanding periods. Nokia Technologies is nearing the end of its smartphone license renewal cycle and has strong growth in the automotive, consumer electronics, IoT and multimedia sectors.
Nokia Technologies expects annual net sales to return to between 1.4 billion and 1.5 billion euros in the medium term.
