Nio (NYSE:NIO) is recruiting pioneering testers for NOMI GPT, a virtual voice assistant that incorporates artificial intelligence (AI) technology, with hopes that AI will improve the conversation experience between cars. .
The electric vehicle (EV) maker today announced in a statement on its mobile app that it has begun recruiting beta testers for its next-generation large model-based NOMI GPT (initial slots are 600 people).
According to the company, the latest version of NOMI has gone through 132 version iterations and provides more than 2,000 features to users.

The company says the large AI model will allow NOMI to express deeper emotions and become smarter.
The launch of NOMI GPT not only dramatically improves NOMI’s intelligence, but also marks a complete step into a new era of Nio’s AI heavy-duty models for smart cockpits, the company said.
Nio said he welcomes applications from people who have a deep understanding of AI technology, who want to provide feedback, and who have professional experience in reviewing.
The application deadline is March 12th at 12:00 pm Beijing time. To receive the beta version of the software, applicants must complete an online training session.
GPT stands for Generative Pre-trained Transformer. This basically solves for the probability of the next word occurring and samples and generates a word from a probability distribution on each call.
As ChatGPT has gained attention around the world, many Chinese tech giants have announced their research progress in this field, and Nio filed for trademarks for GPT in May 2023, including NOMI GPT and Knowme GPT.
Nio introduced NOMI, an acronym for Know Me in English, when it released its first production car, the ES8, in 2017.
Nio vehicle owners can use voice commands to have NOMI perform tasks such as playing music, navigating, making phone calls, taking photos, and finding battery swap stations.

The 2024 Nio models are equipped with a new central computing platform ADAM powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon’s 4th generation cockpit chip SA8295P.
Nio previously said that the 8295 chip offers approximately twice the CPU computing power, three times the GPU computing power, and eight times the AI computing power compared to the previous generation 8155 chip.
