Monitor Audio has launched Gold Series 6G, an all-new, completely redesigned collection of six distinctive speakers.
The sixth generation features a new metal cone technology called Hexagonal Diaphragm Technology (HDT).
“The HDT employs the RDT III cone used in the groundbreaking Hyphn and flagship Platinum Series 3G, which consists of a Nomex® honeycomb layer sandwiched between aluminium and carbon fibre skins,” says Monitor Audio, which is distributed in Australia by Interdyn.
The HDT cone employs a new hexagonal pattern that breaks the symmetry in the cone split, producing a cone that shifts frequency by 10% compared to the RST II cone found on the Silver Series 7G.

The new cones also feature Monitor Audio’s proprietary C-CAM technology, which the company claims results in cones that are stronger and more fatigue-resistant than standard aluminum designs.
New HDT, C-CAM cones are used across the entire series, including the new 3-inch midrange.Frequency driver, 6-inch bass mid unit, 6-inch and 8-inch bass drivers.
Key acoustic features include an improved version of Monitor Audio’s MPD III (micro-pleated diaphragm) transducer, used in both the Hyphn and Platinum series.

“This bespoke design delivers accurate high frequency sound with greater coherence, clarity and precision,” Monitor Audio said. “The level of detail achieved makes music sound more lifelike, crisp and realistic.”
The new Gold Series 6G is available in synthetic ebony veneer for the first time.
Top trim detailing on the 100 and 500 models allows the MPD III high-frequency transducer to be positioned further up the cabinet, which the British audio company says “helps optimize cabinet edge diffraction in these larger models, delivering consistent, precise imaging across the entire frequency range.”
