[Shanghai, China, June 26, 2024] With the slogan “Powering the Intelligent World”, Huawei is participating in MWC Shanghai 2024 and providing a “Commercial 5G-A Experience Tour”. At its booth in SNIEC Hall N1, Huawei is showcasing its latest products and solutions that support both commercial 5G-A deployment and the AI devices required in the mobile AI era.
Huawei also announced that it has successfully signed six agreements with pioneering 5G-A operators around the world, and launched a joint initiative to develop high-quality mobile video in the AI era together with operators, industry customers, and other relevant organizations around the world. Over the next three days, Huawei will meet with operators and other industry players from around the world to discuss the development path of F5G-A and Net5.5G.
In 2024, leading telecom operators in the Middle East and China have started to deploy 5G-A networks, and some of them have already launched differentiated experience-based 5G-A packages.
At today’s event, David Wang, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Huawei and Chairman of the ICT Infrastructure Management Committee, delivered a keynote speech titled “Accelerating 5G-A and Shaping the Mobile AI Era”. In his keynote speech, Wang said, “This month marks the fifth year since the commercialization of 5G in China. Over the past five years, commercial 5G has achieved remarkable success and has had an unprecedented impact on the global mobile industry. 2024 will usher in the mobile AI era with the commercialization of 5G-A and other AI devices. These technologies will be key to making intelligent services ubiquitous. This era will transform not only human-machine interaction, but also content production and mobile devices, invigorating society and bringing opportunities to the mobile industry. Huawei will accelerate 5G-A development from both the perspectives of ‘networks for AI’ and ‘AI for networks’ to create new business value. Huawei looks forward to working with all industry players to seize the enormous opportunities brought by the mobile AI era and shape the intelligent world.”
With the number of 5G users worldwide exceeding 1.8 billion, many operators have already realized the first wave of 5G benefits. Consumer services such as New Calling, cloud phone, and glasses-free 3D have many advanced network requirements, including higher speeds and lower latency. In terms of industrial services, the RedCap ecosystem is maturing, passive IoT is becoming more widely available in the market, and Internet of Vehicles (IoV) applications require faster uplink speeds. Soon, we will see a second wave of commercial benefits as services drive 100 billion connections in all scenarios and new business models upgrade industries.

Major carriers around the world are already exploring the use of 5G-A, with more than 30 carriers having already completed technical validation of 5G-A. Currently, there are nearly 20 mobile phone models that can support multi-carrier aggregation, some of which support enabling the feature by default. In addition, about 10 carriers have already announced commercial 5G-A plans, including the launch of 5G-A packages and other related services. Several carriers in the Middle East and China have deployed 5G-A three-carrier component (3CC) aggregation networks at scale, targeting downlink rates of 5 Gbit/s, and many carriers are introducing new experience-based monetization models as they transition to 5G-A.
During the event, Huawei will showcase its latest products and solutions at Stands E10 and E50 in Hall N1 of the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC).
2024 will be the year of commercial 5.5G, and the deployment of F5.5G gigabit optical networks has already begun. The synergy of networks, cloud, and intelligence will create pervasive intelligent applications and increasingly diversified user experiences. Together with carriers, industry experts, and opinion leaders from around the world, Huawei will tackle exciting topics at this year’s MWC Shanghai, including how to expand 5G success in the 5.5G era and how to harness carrier revenue growth potential to realize the intelligent world even faster.
