Moto G45 5G is the latest smartphone from the brand focused on buyers in the budget smartphone segment in India. Motorola has equipped the device with Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 SoC, PANTONE-certified colour options, dual cameras, and more. The Moto G45 5G competes with the iQOO Z9 Lite 5G which is in the same price range. We compared the two to see which smartphone is the better smartphone under Rs 15,000.

In terms of the 4GB+128GB configuration, the iQOO Z9 Lite 5G is cheaper, but the difference is not that big. The Moto G45 5G is available in a larger 8GB+128GB configuration, so if that’s what you’re looking for, you can choose the G45 5G.

Motorola will offer an instant bank discount of Rs 1,000 on credit card transactions or an additional exchange bonus of Rs 1,000 for the initial sale on August 28.

Moto G45 5G vs iQOO Z9 Lite 5G: Design

  • The Moto G45 5G is available in three PANTONE Certified colors – Brilliant Blue, Brilliant Green and Viva Magenta – with a vegan leather back. The device is 8.03mm thick, weighs 183 grams and is IP52 resistant to dust and water.
  • The iQOO Z9 Lite 5G can be purchased in Mocha Brown and Aquaflow colour options, and iQOO has given the device a thickness of 8.39mm, a weight of 185 grams, and IP64 dust and water resistance.

The Moto G45 5G is lighter and thinner than the iQOO Z9 Lite 5G. It also comes with a vegan leather finish, which is unique in the affordable segment. In contrast, the iQOO Z9 Lite 5G has a textured back panel. It’s up to you to decide which design is more appealing. Both phones also come with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Moto G45 5G vs iQOO Z9 Lite 5G: Display

  • The Moto G45 5G features a 6.5-inch LCD screen with HD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and a central punch-hole cutout. The display boasts a 20:9 aspect ratio, 85% screen-to-body ratio, and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
  • The iQOO Z9 Lite 5G features a 6.56-inch LCD screen with HD+ resolution, 90Hz refresh rate, and a waterdrop-style notch. The display has a peak brightness of 850 nits and is TUV Rheinland Low Blue Light certified.

The Moto G45 5G has a faster 120Hz refresh rate and a modern central punch-hole cutout, giving it an edge over the iQOO Z9 Lite 5G. Motorola has also included Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on this smartphone, which is not available on its competitors.

The Moto G45 5G features a stereo speaker setup with support for Dolby Atmos and a 3.5mm audio jack. In contrast, the iQOO Z9 Lite 5G only comes with a mono speaker setup.

  • The Moto G45 5G is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 SoC, paired with LPDDR4X RAM, UFS 2.2 internal storage, and virtual RAM. The chipset is equipped with two 2.3GHz Cortex A78 cores, six 2.0GHz Cortex A55 cores, and an Adreno 619 GPU.
  • The iQOO Z9 Lite 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 SoC, paired with LPDDR4X RAM, eMMC 5.1 internal storage, and virtual RAM. The chipset is equipped with two 2.4GHz Cortex A76 cores, six 2.0GHz Cortex A55 cores, and a Mali G57 MP2 GPU.

The latest Motorola smartphone has a faster CPU core and GPU, giving it an edge over its iQOO-branded competitor. We’ve added benchmark scores from the Moto G85 5G, which has the same SoC, to the widget and compared it with the iQOO Z9 Lite 5G.

As you can see, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 SoC scores higher than the MediaTek Dimensity 6300.

Moto G45 5G vs iQOO Z9 Lite 5G: Software

  • The Moto G45 5G runs My UX based on Android 14 and is eligible to receive one major Android update and three years of security patch updates.
  • The iQOO Z9 Lite 5G comes with FunTouch OS 14 based on Android 14 and will be backed by two major Android updates and three years of security patch updates.

The iQOO Z9 Lite 5G has an edge over the Moto G45 5G due to its better Android update policy. Both the smartphones have a similar security patch update policy, with guaranteed security patches until 2027.

FunTouch OS 14 also comes with various features to enhance the user experience like split screen, hidden photos, RAM saver, app retainer, etc. Motorola also brings Moto Gestures, Moto Secure, etc. on the Moto G45 5G. However, Motorola offers a cleaner UI experience.

Moto G45 5G vs iQOO Z9 Lite 5G: Camera

  • Moto G45 5G boasts of a dual-camera setup consisting of a 50MP quad-pixel main camera with f/1.8 aperture and a 2MP macro camera with f/2.4 aperture. For selfies, the device has a 16MP snapper with f/2.4 aperture.
  • The iQOO Z9 Lite 5G also comes with a dual camera setup featuring a 50MP Sony AI camera with f/1.8 aperture, PDAF, and a 2MP Bokeh camera with f/2.4 aperture. The device comes with an 8MP selfie snapper with f/2.0 aperture.

The iQOO Z9 Lite 5G has the edge in terms of rear cameras as it comes with a 50MP Sony camera that can capture detailed images. In contrast, the Moto G45 5G comes with a more capable 16MP selfie camera.

Moto G45 5G vs iQOO Z9 Lite 5G: Battery and Charging

  • The Moto G45 5G is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging technology via the USB Type-C port, and Motorola has included a slightly faster 20W adapter in the box.
  • The iQOO Z9 Lite 5G also comes with a 5,000mAh battery that supports 15W fast charging technology via the USB Type C port.

The Moto G45 5G supports slightly faster 18W charging tech, but it is not expected to make a huge difference in charging times compared to the iQOO Z9 Lite 5G’s 15W charging tech.

Moto G45 5G vs iQOO Z9 Lite 5G: Verdict

If you want a more capable SoC in the sub-Rs 15,000 segment, you can give preference to the Moto G45 5G. Motorola has also equipped this smartphone with a premium vegan leather finish on the back and NFC connectivity for a better user experience. The device also comes with a better display and a dual stereo speaker setup.

In contrast, the iQOO Z9 Lite 5G comes equipped with a Sony camera and has a slightly better rear camera. This affordable smartphone from iQOO also has a better Android update policy that ensures a longer guarantee of Android updates.
