ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – More single women are choosing to become homeowners and are putting their names on the deed.

Georgia is tied with Vermont for 13th place in terms of homeownership among single women, according to the report. 2022 U.S. Census Bureau data compiled by Lending TrYeah.
In the Peach State, 13.12% of homeowners are single women. This is 4 percentage points higher than the home ownership rate for single men (9.12%). Of Georgia’s more than 2 million homeowners in 2022, 353,196 were single women and 245,424 were single men, according to the data.
The study found that single women in the United States will own a total of 2.71 million more homes than single men in 2022. According to Lending Tree, there are 10.9 million single female homeowners compared to 8.2 million single male homeowners.
According to Lending Tree, the states with the highest homeownership rates for single women are Delaware, Louisiana, and Mississippi. The states with the most single male homeowners are New Mexico, North Dakota, and Alaska.
Delaware, Maryland, and Massachusetts have the largest gender disparities in homeownership.

According to Lending Tree research, there are only three states where single men own more homes than single women: Alaska, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
