Monitor Audio, distributed in Canada by Kevro International, has launched its redesigned Gold Series 6G series speakers, which now include six speakers.
The Gold Series 6G speakers feature a new metal cone technology called Hexagonal Diaphragm Technology (HDT). HDT builds on the RDT III cone used in the Hyphn and flagship Platinum Series 3G, which consists of a NomexÒ honeycomb layer sandwiched between aluminum and carbon fiber skins. The HDT cone uses a new hexagonal pattern that breaks the symmetry in the cone split, resulting in a cone that shifts frequency by 10% compared to the RST II cone found in the Silver Series 7G.
The new cone also features Monitor Audio’s proprietary C-CAM technology, which the company claims results in a cone that is stronger and more fatigue-resistant than standard aluminum designs. As a result, the new HDT, C-CAM cone is one of the strongest, most piston-like cones Monitor Audio has ever developed.
New HDT, C-CAM cones are used across the range, including a new 3-inch mid-range driver, a 6-inch low-mid-range unit, and 6-inch and 8-inch bass drivers.
The speaker incorporates an improved version of Monitor Audio’s MPD III (Micro Pleated Diaphragm) transducer used in both the Hyphn and Platinum Series. The company says that this bespoke design delivers accurate high-frequency sound with improved consistency, clarity and precision, so music sounds “more lifelike, crisper and more realistic.”
Gold Series 6G crossovers are optimised for in-room performance, which is especially important for the new On-Wall 6G models, a typical use case closer to custom installations than traditional Hi-Fi.
All Gold Series 6G cabinets are engineered to form a rigid structure, allowing the drivers to perform at their best. Top trim detail on the 100 and 500 models allows the MPD III high frequency transducers to be placed at the top of the cabinet, optimizing cabinet edge diffraction on these larger models. This results in consistent and accurate imaging across the entire frequency range.
For the first time, the new Gold Series 6G features a synthetic ebony veneer, which significantly reduces the carbon impact compared to traditional natural wood veneer manufacturing methods, while high gloss black and satin white finishes add a contemporary edge.
The Gold 500 6G is the flagship model featuring the latest MPD III high frequency transducers along with a new 3″ mid driver and twin 8″ bass drivers, both benefiting from the latest HDT, C-CAM cone technology and powerful motor system. Priced at $9,499 per pair.
The Gold 300 6G ($6,999/pair) has a smaller footprint and slimmer profile than the 500 6G. It’s designed to house the latest MPD III high-frequency transducers, a new 3-inch mid driver, and powerful twin 6-inch bass drivers, both of which benefit from the latest HDT, C-CAM cone technology, and powerful motor system.
The Gold 100 6G ($5,199/pair) is a three-way stand-mounted speaker that delivers deep, extended bass, realistic midrange and clear highs. It features the latest MPD III high frequency transducer, a new 3″ mid driver and a powerful 8″ bass driver, all benefiting from the latest HDT, CCAM cone technology and an extremely powerful motor system.
A compact, high-fidelity bookshelf speaker, the Gold 50 6G ($2,999/pair) offers modest dimensions and flexible placement options when paired with ST-2 speaker stands. Designed to house the latest MPD III high frequency transducer and powerful 6-inch bass mid driver, both of which benefit from the latest HDT, C-CAM cone technology and powerful motor system.
The Gold On-Wall 6G ($1,799 each) is a new flexible addition to the Gold Series 6G range. Its slim profile allows it to be used as a rear and side channel AV speaker, but it is also ideal for wall mounted front LCR (Left-Center-Right) applications, making it the perfect home cinema speaker.
