AI capabilities are being deployed on every conceivable platform. Of course, Microsoft is no exception, with its AI assistant Copilot leveraging OpenAI’s ChatGPT (of which the company is a major investor). Currently, the company continues to develop AI video translation capabilities for Microsoft Edge. It’s not published yet, but you can find it if you look.
Twitter user Leopeva64 has been tracking the development of Microsoft’s AI translation capabilities since October. Although this started out as a simple “Translate” button that doesn’t actually do anything, Leopeva64 has been sharing updates to his UI for this feature in the months since. In March, Leopeva64 reported that this feature can generate both audio and subtitles for translation. 4 days ago, Leopeva64 shared that the video translation feature will be powered by AI (previously, this feature just said “preview”). Yesterday, users shared that Microsoft has added a toggle to enable or disable video translation.

When the feature is up and running and the toggle is enabled, you can translate compatible videos into the available languages of your choice and decide whether the output is an audio translation or a subtitle translation. It will look like this. According to Leopeva64, AI translation is not yet working at this time. This means that toggles are just placeholders. However, the fact that Microsoft continues to roll out changes to this feature in development, and the decision to implement the toggle at this time, leads me to believe that this feature will be rolled out to testers in the near future. I believe.
When you’re ready for AI translation, how to try it in Edge
If you want to find this toggle yourself, don’t bother opening Edge on your Mac or PC. Instead, you should use the version of Edge that Microsoft uses to test new features (Edge Canary). According to Leopeva64, Microsoft pushed the toggle to Edge Canary users on Monday, but again, the toggle does not appear in my version of Canary as of this writing. I believe Microsoft is slowly rolling it out to testers, so keep checking back if you don’t see it as well.
To check, open Edge Canary and navigate to: Settings > Language.under translation It should be in the section. Offer to translate videos on your support site [Preview]. If it is disabled, press the toggle. Once this feature is operational, every time you watch a video on Edge Canary,[ピクチャ イン ピクチャ]options and[強化]You should see a new pop-up option next to the option. Select your target language, then select the language you want to translate to, and the feature will take care of the rest.
