MANILA – Makati City has converted 400 public school classrooms into “smart classrooms.”
Makati City Mayor Abby Binay said this Saturday that the local government is looking to incorporate technological advancements into its own educational facilities.
Approximately 200 touchscreen whiteboards with Android operating system, WiFi, and multi-gesture writing capabilities were distributed.
Approximately 119 schools are elementary schools and 81 schools are junior high schools. It also has a microphone for video conferencing.
“We have integrated IoT (Internet of Things) devices into 400 smart classrooms and aim to scale up this initiative in the near future,” Vinay said.
“Our goal is to continue providing quality education and cutting-edge educational resources that meet the demands of the 21st century,” Binay added.
Students will also be given tablets and will have unlimited internet access in the classroom.
There will also be charging stations inside, as well as laptops for students to submit activities.
For local governments, this reduces the burden of teacher performance evaluation.
This approach saves time, reduces paperwork, and reduces administrative burden on teachers, allowing them to spend more time on student-centered activities and developing instructional strategies and innovations in smart classrooms. ” Binay said.
Orientation was also held for approximately 692 public school teachers from October to November 2023.
