LG U+ announced on Monday that it has collaborated with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Samsung Electronics to develop automation technology to optimize the expansion timing of 5G equipment.
The announcement was made at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 in Spain.
This automation technology is designed to predict and seamlessly handle increases in data usage and leverages Samsung Electronics’ cloud-native core software built on the AWS Cloud. This system, which utilizes AI, predicts the optimal timing for equipment expansion and automatically scales up to provide smooth communication services.
For example, during busy events such as the New Year’s countdown that cause traffic spikes, AWS AI increases the capacity of 5G equipment from 10 GB to 20 GB, ensuring uninterrupted service.
The three companies demonstrated the technology at the AWS booth at Fira Gran Via in Barcelona, Spain during MWC 2024. According to LG U+, the three companies also committed to continue joint research on AI and machine learning-based cloud device automation technology.
LG U+ had previously signed a business agreement with AWS in 2022 to cooperate in developing network cloud technology. Current research is investigating the deployment of networking equipment on the AWS cloud.
