Lavastorm 5G review: Homegrown smartphone maker Lava has raised the bar in the mid-range smartphone segment with the launch of Agni 2 and is looking to do the same in the budget smartphone segment with Storm 5G. The minimalist design feels luxurious and provides a bloatware-free experience.
Here are 10 things you should know before buying Lava Storm 5G.
1. It’s one of the best-looking smartphones in its price range. The minimalist design is complemented by a glass back panel. The solid color on the back and the same color plastic midframe look simple yet elegant. However, since it is a glass panel, it is a little heavy.
2. Lava Storm 5G comes with a 6.78-inch IPS LCD display. It supports 120Hz refresh rate and scrolling through various apps is smooth. The chin bezels are a bit thick, but overall it’s a great display and also supports FHD+ resolution. We found the peak brightness to be 478 nits, which is suitable for any indoor use. It may be difficult to use under sunlight.
3. The smartphone draws power from MediaTek Dimensity 6080 processor. It comes with 8GB RAM, which is a good deal in this price range. However, the storage is 128GB, but it is expandable up to 1TB.
4. The performance of this device is very good and does not stutter even when multitasking. You can also play video games, but not graphics-intensive games.
5. Lava Storm 5G runs on Android 13 and the best thing about Lava devices is that it offers a very clean UI experience. However, Lava promises an upgrade to Android 14 along with his two years of security updates.
6. Under the hood is a 5,000mAh battery that easily lasts all day. The device also supports his 33W fast charging, which the company says is a first in this segment. It takes approximately 1.5 hours for the device to fully charge.
7. Lava Storm 5G features a dual camera setup with a 50MP primary camera on the back. It is equipped with an 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor. The camera performance is good for the price.
8. The image is a bit saturated but worth sharing on social media platforms. The bokeh effect in portrait mode is good, but the edge detection is not very accurate.
9. For selfies, the smartphone has a 16MP front camera that can take good images even in sunlight.
10. If you are someone who is looking for an elegant looking smartphone with great performance and battery, then Lava Storm 5G is a good option to consider. Additionally, there are few options in this price range that offer a bloatware-free experience.
