India continues to lead the world in 5G subscriber growth, with 175 million global subscribers added from April to June 2023 (Q2 – Q2). More than 7 million of these were in India, the Ericsson Mobility Report update on August 31 revealed. .

With the second quarter additions, global 5G subscriber numbers will approach 1.3 billion. Approximately 260 communications service providers (CSPs) have launched commercial 5G services. About 35 of his CSPs have launched his 5G standalone (SA) network.
The second-highest country growth rate was China, which added more than 5 million 5G subscriptions during the second quarter, followed by the United States, which added more than 3 million 5G subscriptions.

Other information in the Q2 update includes:
- In the second quarter of 2023, mobile subscriptions totaled 8.3 billion, with a net addition of 40 million during the quarter. The number of unique mobile subscribers he is 6.1 billion.
- Global mobile subscription penetration was 105%.
- Mobile broadband subscriptions increased by approximately 100 million during the quarter, for a total of 7.4 billion, an increase of 5% compared to the same period last year. Mobile broadband currently accounts for 88% of all mobile subscriptions.
- Mobile data traffic increased by 33% between Q2 2022 and Q2 2023.
- The number of 4G subscriptions increased by 11 million, totaling approximately 5.2 billion, accounting for 62% of all mobile subscriptions.
- During the quarter, WCDMA/HSPA subscribers decreased by 85 million and GSM/EDGE only subscribers decreased by 59 million. Other technologies decreased by about 2 million.
