A woman’s story has gone viral after her partner accused her of wasting water during a 26-minute shower. The woman, who claims to live with her partner, detailed their disagreement in a Reddit post.
According to the original poster, she was a “woman with long, thick hair” who would take “full-body showers” to “wash her body and face, style her hair, and shave it all off.” She claimed her husband was “infuriated by the length of time I was in the shower.”
She wrote, “My partner was furious about how long I was in the shower. I’m a woman with long, thick hair and I was taking what they call a full body shower. I washed my hair, conditionered, shaved all over, washed my body and face and then got out. He asked me if I realized how much water I was wasting because I was leaving the sink running the whole time I was in the shower. I asked him why I could hear the water running while I was in the shower. I said ‘yes’ and among other things.”
“I added the songs I listened to in the shower to my playlist. 26 minutes total,” she continued on Reddit.
She explained that she takes this long shower once every three to four days, adding, “I work from home so I don’t shower every day, but if I do, my normal wash is no more than 10 minutes, I wash my body, shampoo my hair.”

“He thinks you’re the AH who wasted the water but he left it running the whole time? This is the worst. Water. Crackdown. Worst ever,” one user said.
“I still don’t understand how that proves his point,” another wrote.
“No, because my husband expects me to be in the shower for at least 45 minutes if I’m going to shave or wash. If you ask me now, I’d say ’45 minutes to an hour’ because a normal shower where you just wash your hair and body takes 15-30 minutes,” another person added.
One person said: “Exactly. My shower on days I don’t wash my hair takes about 10-15 minutes. What about washing my body and hair? 25-30 minutes. Everything plus shaving takes about 45 minutes. He’s insane.”
“I’m a guy with long, curly, thick hair and I can take a 30 minute shower without shaving anything and just focus on my hair. Guys are stupid,” one person said.
“Your partner wasted water on purpose to ‘teach you a lesson’ – this is horrible logic and it’s really stupid to not pay your water bill. If you pay your water bill you should demand compensation for wasting water,” said one Reddit user.
