Tea in India is more than just a hot drink. It has a lot of emotional meaning. This love for chai also led me to undergo all sorts of experiments. These days, we often see strange tea recipes going viral on social media. A video was recently posted on Instagram’s food page demonstrating a “unique recipe” for making an “earthy” flavored tea. The clip shows a man putting five earthenware clay diyas into a pot filled with boiling water. Once the diya is fully submerged in water, add a spoonful of fennel seeds, sugar and crushed jaggery in it.

He adds spices like cardamom, cloves and a spoonful of tea leaves to boiling water. Once it boils, you can see a man pouring a full glass of milk into a container. The man then removes the diya from the tea leaves, strains the tea and pours it into a cup. As the video continues, the man explains that this recipe adds the much-loved tandoori earthy flavor to tea. Check out the full reel below.

This video has been viewed 33 million times so far. It turns out that the Internet was not in the mood to try their favorite drink. We say this because several users flooded the comments section asking men to stop experimenting with tea. One user joked: “Next time use bricks.”
Another said, “Thodi mitti daal do aur acha flavor ayeega.” [Add soil to it that will enhance the flavour further]. ”
A third user sarcastically suggested: “This is a unique recipe. Delete it and keep it unique.”
Pointing out the hygiene factor, he said, “Die dul rie za pere ya gunde hai dar die? [Did you wash the diyas or use them as they were]? ”
Another comment read, “Kulhad wali chai ka matlab yeni to kulhad pee ki dal do. [Kulhad tea doesn’t mean that you crush the earthenware and add it directly to the tea]. ”
