With just a few months left until the third sequel hits the 2024 movie schedule, the first Sonic the Hedgehog 3 The trailer was released yesterday, giving audiences their first look at Keanu Reeves voicing the character Shadow. For anyone wondering why a child dying in a family movie sounds appealing: Sonic the Hedgehog Fans should first take a look at the still from the trailer above, and below, a still of Shadow and a man kneeling next to what appears to be a dead body.
After the trailer was released, it was revealed that the girl played by Alila Brown is named Maria. Sonic The mythos features a character named Maria Robotnik, granddaughter of Professor Gerald Robotnik and cousin of Ivo Robotnik. Originally featured in the game Sonic Adventure 2 and Shadow the HedgehogMaria bonded with Shadow after his creation, but was killed during a GUN raid on the ARK facility. Before dying, Maria put Shadow in an escape pod and encouraged him to protect humanity. Shadow was so traumatized by the incident that he nearly destroyed Earth in the year 2000. Sonic Adventure 2However, following Maria’s final words, he turned to the light and joined forces with Sonic and his friends.
I don’t know yet, Sonic the Hedgehog 3Maria from will be part of the Robotnik family, but the trailer has fans overjoyed that she might be killed off… out of respect for the source material, not because they’re actively hoping for the child’s death. In fact, looking at posts shared on Twitter (formerly Twitter), it seems like that’s what they’re really hoping for. A good example of this is this statement from @roCkPip21:
