[Barcelona, Spain, March 2, 2023] At Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona 2023, Huawei unveiled the Eco series antennas, which reduce site power consumption, improve network energy efficiency, and save OPEX. These ultra-energy efficient antennas reduce carbon emissions while benefiting the environment and society. Eco series antennas help carriers build their 5G networks to be green and high-performance, without the need for additional energy, even during surges in network traffic.
Increasing the energy efficiency of networks is the new norm and is important both for the revenues of carriers and the sustainable development of the telecommunications industry. Antennas play a vital role in wireless networks as a medium for transmitting RF energy to mobile devices. Therefore, the more energy efficient the antenna, the more efficient the entire network will be. Huawei Eco series antennas increase energy efficiency with innovations such as full-band signal direct injection feeding (SDIF) and meta-lens. As tested in European networks, Huawei antennas can help carriers reduce site energy consumption by 15% and improve overall network energy efficiency.

- Ultimate RF efficiency: Eco series antennas use Huawei’s proprietary SDIF technology in all bands to reduce RF energy loss in the feeding network and improve efficiency by 15%. The required transmit power is also reduced without compromising coverage. In other words, the network coverage quality is improved with the same transmit power.
- Ultimate Coverage Efficiency: Eco Series antennas use meta-lens technology to optimize the direction of the electromagnetic beam, delivering more RF energy to the target area. Reducing electromagnetic noise and interference with neighboring cells further improves network coverage quality.
Eric Chao, President of Huawei Antenna BU, said: “Building green networks to save energy and reduce carbon emissions is a global priority for carriers. Antennas are a key component in wireless networks. Huawei will continue to improve the energy efficiency of antennas.” The company will continue to innovate in this field, helping carriers build high-performance and green 5G networks and promoting the sustainable development of the industry. ”
