[Barcelona, Spain, March 6, 2024] At MWC Barcelona 2024, Huawei will hold a 5G industry evolution summit with the theme of “Building high-quality 5G networks for the 5.5G era”, bringing together major carriers, industry partners, and opinion leaders. , discussed the future of the 5G industry.

The eight changes are already making waves in the industry.
1. The 5G experience is far superior to the 4G experience. This can be seen in the enhanced video experience enabled by 5G’s ubiquitous Gbps capabilities. Currently, more than 60% of his video content is produced at 720p or higher at 60 frames per second (FPS), double his previous rate. Improvements in home wireless broadband connectivity have led to a boom in immersive, high-definition applications such as cloud gaming and multipoint video.
2. 5G is driving new types of business growth. Telecom operators around the world are increasingly rolling out a variety of data plans featuring high-speed experiences, monetizing their networks based on business models that are less centered around data traffic and more focused on speed. We are promoting. Improving uplink performance and reducing latency play a key role in these new network monetization strategies.
3. 5G is driving the growth of connectivity worldwide. Thanks to upgrades in ultra-reliable and low-latency communication (URLLC) technology, 5G is becoming increasingly cost-effective and can be applied in more core production processes. Reduced Capability (RedCap) and the passive IoT ecosystem are maturing at an accelerating rate to expand connectivity to all scenarios.
Four. Multicarrier networks are becoming increasingly popular. 80% of 5G carriers are turning to the high bandwidth of TDD to deliver Gbps, which has supported the growth of the multiband ecosystem. 35% of carriers have their TDD spectrum in two or more bands, and almost all mainstream devices are now multi-carrier capable.
Five. Millimeter waves (mmWave) have become essential for 5.5G. High Frequency AAU (HAAU) has improved the coverage and mobility of mmWave networks. This is a necessary step for 5.5G deployment. These AAUs are already in commercial use in China, enabling commercial enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB) services with peak speeds of 10 Gbps and average speeds of 5 Gbps.
6. With 5.5G, very large antenna arrays (ELAA) have become the preferred choice. ELAA allows carriers to upgrade their sites to include more antenna elements and support more bands. This is an important first step for 5.5G xGbps.
7. “0 bits 0 watts” is becoming the new benchmark for green networks. 5G will double the peak-to-average traffic ratio of 4G during both busy and idle times. Energy efficiency is therefore becoming an increasingly urgent priority for operators. Huawei has released a whole series of equipment to help carriers achieve unprecedented levels of energy savings at both site and network levels.
8. Communications infrastructure models and digital twin systems are rapidly moving the industry closer to L4 network intelligence. Huawei IntelligentRAN supports L4 intent-driven network intelligence, enabling failure prevention and prediction, service intent sensing, and multi-objective decision-making in mobile networks.
These eight changes reflect how far the industry is in delivering 5G and how close it is to delivering 5.5G. Mr. Peng gave his speech by reaffirming Huawei’s commitment to working with carriers and partners to foster a thriving industry ecosystem through continuous innovation to quickly bring the new era of commercial 5.5G to the world. Concluded.
MWC Barcelona 2024 will be held in Barcelona, Spain from February 26th to February 29th. During the event, Huawei will be showcasing its latest products and solutions for 1 hour and 50 minutes at Fira Gran Via Hall 1 stand.
Toward the commercial launch of 5.5G in 2024, Huawei is collaborating with carriers and partners around the world to pursue exciting new innovations in networks, cloud, and intelligence. Together, we will advance his 5G business, foster a thriving industry ecosystem, and build a new era of intelligent digital transformation.
