Raleigh, North Carolina — Google is donating $100,000 to the City of Raleigh to create and install benches with WiFi to bring connectivity to Dorothea Dix Park.
The Dix Park Conservancy announced the grant Wednesday.
“WiFi benches will allow visitors to better enjoy the park’s many attractions, learn about its history, and learn about the implications for future development,” said Janet Cowell, CEO of Dix Park Conservancy. “You can find out if you can participate.”
Six benches (WiFi hotspots) will be installed near existing park facilities, including Dix Park Dog Park, Oak Room and Magnolia Room. This project is scheduled to be rolled out until the beginning of his 2024.
With WiFi benches placed throughout the park, guests can connect to the internet for free without using mobile data to get directions and information about the park, check messages, and find their next action. can. The park will have access to data on connection numbers and duration to help plan additional hotspots, the conservation organization said.
