German retail giant REWE signs up with Israeli startup Catch, a retail-focused AI company, to test Catch AI, a multichannel platform that runs on smart carts, smartphones, self-checkout kiosks, and more concluded. The agreement was signed with REWE Digital’s innovation hub ‘Research & Innovation’, which promotes the integration of advanced technology into supermarket operations.
In the first phase, the solution was deployed in 110 carts at the retailer’s largest supermarket, the REWE Center in Cologne. Each cart is equipped with a tablet, providing each shopper with a “Catch Smart Personal Assistant.” This allows shoppers to scan handwritten shopping lists or digitally transfer them using a tablet. No registration or app download is required, allowing complete anonymity throughout the shopping process.
Catch was founded in 2022 by CEO Shlomi Dayan and CTO Itai Lishner, both former executives at Israeli unicorn Trax. The company will launch its product in May 2023 and currently employs 19 people at its research and development center in Israel and offices in Germany. Catch is available at his Tiv Taam stores in Israel and other locations around the world, and on a regular basis he serves more than 120,000 active shoppers and receives more than 1 million personalized messages and messages each month. We are distributing the sale.
REWE is one of the leading companies in the German food retail industry, with sales of EUR 28.4 billion (2022), more than 160,000 employees nationwide and 3,800 stores in Germany.
