“We are delighted that this funding has been awarded to the town, which is one of the most popular areas for tourism. This will ensure that visitors and locals alike will not have to worry about high data charges while in the area. You’ll have fast, secure internet access without having to worry about it.
“And most importantly, we hope that while in the area, even more people will take advantage of the great local shops and businesses that New Brighton has to offer.”
Wirral Council is currently running a Shop Local campaign aimed at promoting a range of local businesses on Wirral, and people can send in nominations. New Wi-Fi networks bring attention to local businesses when people connect.
Sean Martin, chairman of New Brighton Coastal Community Group, welcomed the development but said it was disappointing it had not been extended to independent businesses near the town’s promenade and train station. .
