During MWC Shanghai 2023, Fibocom announced the launch of SC151-GL, a 5G smart module equipped with Qualcomm® QCM4490 processor. The global version of the SC151-GL is intended to provide a “one-world-ready” solution. 5G AIoT Introduced in the market, mobile smart devices will be able to access 5G services anytime and anywhere.
Fibocom, the world’s leading provider of Internet of Things (IoT) wireless solutions and wireless communication modules, announced the availability of the SC151-GL at MWC Shanghai 2023.
Based on Qualcomm® QCM4490 processor, Fibocom SC151-GL is the industry’s first 5G smart module that supports mainstream frequency bands in 5G network architectures around the world. This is very important for customers who require global roaming on their devices to deploy smart wireless solutions faster and more efficiently compared to regional versions.
Fibocom SC151-GL provides a comprehensive smart wireless solution powered by Qualcomm® QCM4490 processor. Compliant with 3GPP Release 16, this module can provide Gigabit 5G experience in addition to support for Wi-Fi 6/6E, enabling simultaneous connectivity of multiple end devices and high data throughput. These features can significantly improve uplink performance, especially for delay-sensitive scenarios such as warehousing and manufacturing detection. From a network usage perspective, the SC151-GL is compatible with 5G SA/NSA and EN-DC, as well as backward compatible with 4G/3G bands. It is worth highlighting that this module offers a power-efficient solution for end devices, enabled by value-added TWT (Target Wake Time).
In the rapidly growing digital transformation, the convergence of AI and IoT is inevitable, and 5G is a key accelerator to realize the transition to the 5G AIoT era. The Fibocom SC151-GL is a “one-world-one” smart wireless solution for customers in the industrial handheld, industrial tablet, POS devices, body-worn cameras, and PoC (mobile phone push-to-talk) industries. Shorten R&D cycles and reduce hardware investments during the early stages of global expansion. With a rich set of interfaces including MIPI/USB/UART/SPI/I2C, etc., this module is scalable to meet the demands of various AIoT applications, and software support supports future Android 18 upgrades. Fully upgradeable.
“The rapid growth of the 5G market has driven more and more IoT devices to evolve from 4G to 5G, especially industrial handheld terminals that require seamless roaming to meet the processing speeds of edge computing. and smart devices such as tablets. Eden Chen, General Manager of Fibocom’s MC Product Management Center, said:
“With the launch of the SC151-GL, the industry’s first 5G smart module that integrates the ability to support global frequency bands in a single unit, we will enable our customers to more effectively lead their 5G transformation and digitalization. I can say this with confidence.”
