ExpressVPN has made significant advances in the hardware space since the introduction of Aircove routers in 2022. Now, the popular virtual private network provider is expanding its lineup by launching a new portable Wi-Fi 6 router with built-in VPN protection. Introducing Aircove Go.
Citing a recent study by Forbes, 40% of surveyed users have had their personal information compromised while using public Wi-Fi, with most incidents occurring at airports, restaurants, and cafes. Connections are often unsecured here, leaving users vulnerable to attacks. ExpressVPN’s launch of his Aircove Go aims to bridge the gap between data privacy and the good old convenience of free Wi-Fi..
“Public Wi-Fi networks are convenient, but their nature makes them available to everyone. As a result, they are typically less secure and private than home networks,” says David, Staff Product Manager at Aircove. Gilbert said in a press release.
“We built Aircove Go to solve that, so you can take your home network on the go and protect your online activities wherever you are, even on public Wi-Fi. Aircove Think of Go as your digital security companion for your home office, entertainment room, hotel, coworking space, and more.”
ExpressVPN says its easy one-time setup means users only need to connect their individual devices to Aircove Go once. Then, at each new location, the user simply connects her Aircove Go to public Wi-Fi and all remembered devices will connect automatically. You don’t have to sign in to each device one by one.
Unlike the Aircove home router, which requires Ethernet, the Aircove Go touts a new feature in AircoveOS called Wi-Fi Link that allows users to connect to local Wi-Fi and go online. No cables are required except for a USB-C cable for power.
Covering up to 750 square feet, Aircove Go can support an unlimited number of devices, including smart appliances and other technology where VPN software cannot be installed. This palm-sized router delivers Wi-Fi speeds of up to 600 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band and up to 1,200 Mbps on 5 GHz. It has a 1.2 GHz 64-bit quad-core CPU, 512 MB RAM, and 128 MB flash storage. Additionally, Aircove Go features a threat manager, parental controls, ad blocking protection, and automatic updates.
Pricing: The Aircove Go sells for $169.90 on Amazon and comes with a one-year warranty. Requires a subscription to ExpressVPN. A new user can take advantage of a 30-day free trial upon purchase.
