STOCKHOLM — Ericsson will provide the Swedish Civil Emergency Agency with its 5G core network, forming part of Sweden’s next generation mission-critical network infrastructure.
The new critical communications network, named ‘Rakel G2’, will be used for public safety and emergency services, including national defense purposes, the company said.
“Police, firefighters, emergency medical services, and military organizations can now collaborate more effectively with enhanced situational awareness through secure and rapid sharing of voice, data, images, and video,” Ericsson said in a statement. “It will be.”
Ericsson’s 5G core network will initially complement the Swedish Civil Emergency Agency’s existing national radio communications system Rakel. Rakel is used by over 650 organizations across a wide range of authorities including the police, customs, military defense, coast guard, rescue services and healthcare.
Implementation of the new core network will begin in 2024.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
