Vietnam’s educational institution, Posts and Telecommunications Technology University (PTIT), has agreed to cooperate with Ericsson on digital skills training as part of the country’s national transformation plan centered on 5G, AI and other related technologies.
Ericsson said it will provide students with access to its education platform, offering training covering 5G, AI, machine learning, automation, blockchain, cloud computing, data science, IoT and communications.
The MoU with PTIT marks the company’s “second formal agreement with a Vietnamese educational institution under the Ericsson Educate program,” the company said. The training scheme provides “access to high-quality digital learning resources” based on the company’s ICT expertise.
The Ericsson deal has a joint research and development element covering AI and automation, with the vendor also committing to providing workplace placements to students as part of the learning experience.
Ericsson has also committed to providing skills training to support the country’s Ministry of Information and Communications’ planned 5G rollout.
“The country [sic] “With 5G as the driving force behind the digital economy and improving students’ skills, Vietnam will be able to harness the full potential of technology and thus drive its digitalisation,” Ericsson said.
Rita Mokbel, head of Ericsson Vietnam, said access to a skilled workforce will be crucial to the country’s digital transformation.
