NEW DELHI: Swedish telecom equipment maker Ericsson on Tuesday established a new dedicated organization to enable 5G-driven digital transformation across the US federal government.
“5G communications technology is essential to the national and economic security of the United States and is a key component of the U.S. defense modernization program,” the vendor said. “Ericsson recognizes the importance of our continued commitment to our customers, our investment in new technology to continuously improve our services, and our responsibility to national security.”
Ericsson Federal Technology Group (EFTG) will be led by Christopher Lin, who has extensive experience growing federal and commercial businesses in advanced technology and cybersecurity. Mr. Lin previously worked at Booz Allen Hamilton, where he held numerous positions over his nearly 30-year career, most recently as executive vice president and group leader of the U.S. National Security business. .
Ericsson announced that the newly formed organization will provide advisory services to design robust, secure and highly integrated networking solutions to support extreme demanding use cases from 5G networks. It said it is well-positioned to serve existing customers and U.S. government agencies.
EFTG will also partner with leading system integrators, existing customers, and government agencies to analyze essential requirements to capture new demand, drive innovation, and guide global standardization efforts essential to the evolution to 6G. .
In January, Ericsson’s Finnish rival Nokia also launched its Nokia Federal Solutions (NFS) division, which provides 5G, private wireless, tactical private wireless, optical networking, IP routing and microwave solutions to the US government. I launched it.
