Ericsson and IIT Kharagpur have announced a long-term partnership for joint research in the fields of artificial intelligence, computing and wireless. Under the two agreements signed under this partnership, researchers from both parties will work together to develop new AI and distributed computing technologies for 6G research.
A symposium on wireless and networking research was held at GS Sanyal School of Telecommunications (GSSST) with the participation of leaders from Ericsson Research and IIT Kharagpur to discuss the future of networking and communications.
“In our efforts towards Digital India and making India a hub of innovation, this collaboration with Ericsson is highly effective for next-generation technologies. Applications leveraged will be able to run faster and more efficiently. In the 6G era, IIT Kharagpur will be able to perform We aim to contribute to the application,” said Virendra Kumar Tewari, Director, IIT Kharagpur.
AI and compute research is essential to Ericsson’s 6G network, given that compute offloading needs to be dynamically managed at the edge and policies are primarily driven by AI.
