Pelephone announced a major breakthrough with the launch of the first independent 5G standalone network in the Israeli mobile market in collaboration with global company Ericsson. The new network, called 5G MAX, will go live in the coming weeks and customers will enjoy a significantly improved browsing experience, including a wider range of content, higher traffic rates, lower latency and network prioritization during busy periods and at events with high attendance. At the same time, the company demonstrated for the first time its network deployment and prioritization capabilities for gamers in the Port of Tel Aviv, prioritization during a drone flight in Hod Hasharon, and demonstrated speeds of around 6 gigabits in its lab, the highest speeds ever measured by Pelephone.
The new technology also enables smoother, faster data flow during large events such as concerts and sporting matches, ensuring customers connected to the new network core can continue to stay connected and their mobile phone browsing will continue to work normally.
The new network core is expected to maintain a strong and stable cellular network, with the option to provide high-speed solutions for drones and security services, which are also useful in emergency situations, which has already attracted interest among security agencies. In addition, the new network will bring dramatic improvements in terms of information security, making it more resistant to cyber breaches and attacks by malicious actors exploiting advanced encryption protocols.
“We are at the forefront of a significant milestone that marks a key stage in the development of Israel’s 5G network,” said Ilan Sigal, CEO of Pelephone. “Pelephone is leading a new revolution in the Israeli mobile market. After being the first in Israel to deploy 5G and successfully launching our eSIM service, we are proud to bring you great news about the evolution of Israel’s mobile infrastructure. This evolution will bring improved browsing quality and innovative technological solutions that Israelis have yet to experience. With approximately 1.1 million customers, we continue to lead 5G in Israel and will continuously expand the rollout of 5G sites across the country, reaching 1,000 sites within a year from today.”
New packages for Pelephone’s 5G MAX plan:
- MAX LIVE 5G – A plan for sports and concert fans. It offers high speeds and prioritized browsing during events with large crowds, ensuring bandwidth and optimal video viewing for an improved experience. The package includes 5,000 minutes of calls, 5,000 SMS and a 2,000 gigabyte browsing package for NIS 65 per month.
- MAX GAMING 5G – A plan for gaming enthusiasts that offers the best gaming experience with low latency, in an era when cloud gaming is strengthened at the expense of gaming consoles. The package includes 5,000 minutes of calls, 5,000 SMS and a 2,000 gigabyte browsing package for NIS 69 per month.
- MAX VIP ISRAEL 5G – A plan with high speeds, low latency and priority during network congestion. It is for customers who value speed and low latency and want to enjoy priority during busy periods. The package includes 5,000 minutes of calls, 5,000 SMS and a 3,000 gigabyte browsing package for NIS 79 per month.
- MAX VIP GLOBAL 5G – A plan suitable for customers traveling abroad, it includes 10 gigabytes of international browsing, 5,000 minutes of calls, 5,000 SMS, and a 3,000 gigabyte browsing package in Israel per month for NIS 129. In addition, this package also includes high speeds, low latency, and priority during busy periods.
But Pelephone isn’t the only company making headway on the 5G front in Israel: Partner Networks also signed a deal with Ericsson in January last year and is set to launch its own independent 5G network soon. Partner is expected to offer similar services to Pelephone, using similar advanced technology.
Celcom also launched premium 5G packages earlier this year, which include a promise to prioritize subscribers during network congestion. However, it is important to note that Celcom’s 5G network is still based on a 4G core. Celcom also plans to launch its 5G core later this year.
