(KTLA) – On Monday morning, “Sesame Street” character Elmo innocently asked users on X (formerly Twitter) how they were feeling.
“Elmo is just checking in! How’s everyone doing?” asked the beloved furry red monster.
Some of the answers were quite healthy.
Chance the Rapper replied, “Honestly, I’m in a really good place right now.”
NASA put a scientific spin on the answer.
“Thank you for checking in. @Elmo. Let me remind you that you are made of star material. ”
“We’re here, just browsing,” Firefox writes.
Rapper and singer T-Pain used this question to pay homage to one of his famous lyrics from his 2007 hit song “Bartender.”
“I’m just looking for someone to talk to and show me love, if you know what I mean,” he wrote.
“I’m in a bad mood,” grumpy Oscar responded appropriately.
Elmo’s sidekick Big Bird updated Elmo on his journey as little Big Bird. Recently, he has shrunk from his typical 8-foot frame to the size of a paper clip.
“Day 6. Still little. #HelpBigBird,” the giant Muppet said.
However, some people decide to get a little too realistic with their eternal 3-year-old.
Actress Rachel Zegler wrote, “I’m resisting the urge to tell Elmo something a little sad.”
“Elmo, I’m suffering from existential dread here,” writes David Leavitt.
“I suck. Thanks for asking,” a user named Woshingo responded.
User Dragongeminii asked a tough question: But why did they want to make the city fun and exciting? This world doesn’t like us Elmo. ”
tech show Elmo skips the explanation and instead asks how she’s doing.
“Elmo, I’m not going to do this to you. I’m going to put up with it and let you keep your peace. By the way, what about Zoe’s pet rock?”
of “Between us” The video game account answered with one word: “Suffering.”
“We’ve gotten better, Elmo,” the Detroit Free Press wrote after the Detroit Lions lost to the San Francisco 49ers in Sunday’s NFC Championship game.
“Every morning I can’t wait to go back to sleep. Every Monday I can’t wait for Friday to come. Every day and every week for the rest of my life,” Contrarian wrote.
Sesame Street’s X account appeared to see a similar reaction, retweeting Elmo’s post with a message urging users to take care of their mental health and offering helpful resources.
“thank you, @Elmo, for checking in with me and reminding me to take a mindful moment to stop and focus on how I’m feeling,” the account said. “for #emotionalwellbeing For resources and more, click here @Sesame Workshop: http://sesame.org/mentalhealth.”
The thousands of responses surprised many.
“I didn’t vent my trauma to Elmo on the bingo card,” he wrote. Livin la vida lisa.
“We started this year. We started. The trauma hit Elmo so hard that the official Sesame Street account had to tweet out mental health resources. God help us,” Becca Liz wrote.
The post received 143.2 million views, 10,000 replies, 39,000 retweets, 83,000 likes, and 10,000 saves.
After going viral, Elmo returned with his followers on Tuesday morning.
“Oh! I’m glad Elmo asked!” Post read. “Elmo learned it’s important to check in with his girlfriend’s friends. Elmo will check in again soon, friends! Elmo loves you. #EmotionalWellBeing.”
The “Sesame Street” account once again reminded users that “mental health is health.” The post again directed users to the health section of the show’s website.
