The University of Delhi (DU) has allocated a budget of Rs 6,771 crore for the construction of a WiFi network across all campuses of the university and a women’s hostel to be built in Mukherjee Nagar in northwest Delhi, according to an official document.
The Wireless Fidelity (WiFi) connectivity initiative will cover around 90 universities across both the north and south campuses, in addition to the Dhaka hostel complex, the document said, news agency PTI reported. ing.
The implementation of this project will be funded through a loan corpus of Rs 938.33 million that the university obtained from the Higher Education Finance Authority (HEFA) in October last year for implementation of various development projects.

HEFA, a collaboration between Canara Bank and the Ministry of Education, extends financial support for the establishment of educational infrastructure and research facilities in India’s premier educational institutions.
In 2022, the University of Delhi sought HEFA financing to address its infrastructure requirements and expansion initiatives. These include projects such as setting up DU’s East Delhi campus in Surajmal Vihar and opening a new university in Najafgarh. The agency also approved proposals for five additional projects to be funded by HEFA loans, and work will begin upon approval of the funds.
