NEW DELHI: With India achieving the world’s fastest 5G rollout, the government is now inviting proposals to start developing next-generation telecom technologies and accelerate research on 6G ecosystem development.
Telecom Secretary Neeraj Mittal on Tuesday launched ‘Bharat 5G Portal – Integrated Portal’ which will serve as a one-stop solution for all quantum, IPR, 5G and 6G related affairs.
“India’s 5G rollout is one of the fastest in the world and now we are already talking about 6G,” Mittal said after launching the portal.
He said India has the world’s second-largest telecommunications network and has “astonished” the world with its development of 4G/5G technology in a short period of time.
“India currently has 100,000 startups, making it a great opportunity for countries to collaborate with India. The world knows that India is a reliable partner, and now everyone has access to 5G technology. But we also want to cooperate with India on 6G technology,” he said.
The government is also promoting investment in start-ups in the telecommunications sector. During the Bharat Telecom event, a special conference session titled ‘Bridging Dreams and Funding: Connecting the Future of Venture Capitalists/Investors and Startups’ was inaugurated by Mittal.
As part of the session, 26 startups gave presentations on their innovative communications products. More than 10 venture capitalists/investors attended the meeting.
The government considers such initiatives to be a testament to India’s commitment to technological advancement and the growth of its telecommunications industry.
“…India continues to be the world’s third-largest tech start-up ecosystem and we need to encourage the participation of more start-ups to create new business opportunities for Indian manufacturers,” the Secretary said. Stated.
